Operational Support Services is headed up by a chief inspector, who has overall responsibility and is supported by a chief inspector and several inspectors.
Anyone contacting the force by telephone will have spoken to someone from our Force Communication Centre (FCC), which is part of our Operational Support Services.
FCC staff deal with all incoming calls and decide the relevant response. So this one part of Operational Support Services is already crucial part of the force and our service to we provide to you.
However Operational Support Services is not just the FCC. It is a large and diverse department made up of several sections with specially trained staff.
As the title suggests, it is there to support our front line staff. To do this, Operational Support Services needs officers trained in a many of different fields including road safety, community planning, emergency planning and wildlife crime. This is not a definitive list but demonstrates the diverse nature of what we do.
Although based at Police Headquarters, Operational Support Services provides support to both divisions and Crime Management Services. The department comprises:
