Dumfries Division
Dumfries division covers the east of the force area, encompassing the local authority areas of Annandale & Eskdale and Nithsdale.
The rural area of Annandale & Eskdale includes the main towns of Moffat, Lockerbie, Langholm, Annan and Gretna, in addition to many smaller villages. Being the furthermost eastern region, it provides vital transport links to central Scotland, northern England and Ireland.
Nithsdale covers the main towns of Dumfries, Sanquhar, Thornhill and Locharbriggs, in addition to many smaller villages. This wide-ranging area stretches from Beeswing in the west, to Kirkconnel in the north and to Southerness in the south.
