Mickey took up the position of Head of Crime Management Services in January 2011 and takes on responsibility for a wide range of specialist areas of policing including Public Protection, Drugs, Fraud & Financial Investigation, E-Crime, Offender Management and the investigation of Serious Crime in the region.
Mickey grew up in the village of Eaglesfield and attended Lockerbie Academy prior to joining Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary as a Cadet in 1981. Following his appointment as a Constable in 1984, Mickey served in Dumfries, Stranraer and Kirkcudbright before being transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in 1991. Since that time he has held a number of Detective roles and has been involved in several high profile investigations.
Most notably, Mickey played a key role in the Lockerbie bombing investigation and conducted enquiries both in the UK and abroad. He also led the investigation into the theft of the Da Vinci painting from Drumlanrig Castle which ultimately resulted in the painting being recovered safely.
In 1994, Mickey was awarded the Law Society award for outstanding student on his Detective Training Course and has since received a High Commendation from the Chief Constable for his work on the Lockerbie case.
Mickey is married and has 2 children. He enjoys golf, reading and walking.
