Translation Service

Anyone who needs it can call on the services of an interpreter in their dealings with the police, the council or the health service in Dumfries and Galloway.

Using skills of staff from the National Interpreting Service as translators, police staff are able to converse with those who cannot speak or understand English. 140 different languages are available over the phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Posters and language identification cards explaining the system are displayed in police offices, as well as council offices and doctors' surgeries.

If you know someone who may need to use the interpreting facility then please tell them about it and how they can get access to it.

Our Force Communication Centre is staffed around the clock. You can contact us 24 hours a day with general enquiries or to report a crime.
